Abstract Objective To observe the levels of tissue factor(TF)in monocyte(Mo)and plasma TF of elderly patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)at acute phase and recovery stage. Methods The levels of MoTF mRNA and plasma TF were detected by RT-PCR and ELISA, respectively. Blood samples were taken from 52 acute myocardial infarction(AMI)patients, 45 unstable angina(UA)patients and50 healthy people. Results Compared with the control group, the expressions of MoTF mRNA(0.258±0.070, 0.304 ± 0.083 and 0.291 ± 0.040), and plasma TFAg levels(192.89 ± 91.36,263.14 ± 114.98 and 258.73±110.12)were significantly higher in AMI and UA group at acute phase(P<0.05). TF antigen was significantly associated with the expression of MoTF mRNA(P<0.05). At the recovery stage, MoTF
mRNA began declining in both AMI and UA groups(0.284±0.048 and 0.279±0.039), though they were still significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05). While plasma TFAg in both AMI and UA groups(212.84±101.36 and 218.74±99.82)decreased significantly to a level that was not significantly different from that in the control group(P>0.05). Conclusion The expression of TF mRNA in monocytes is upregulated during the onset of ACS.
